From the plaque under the statue:
Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free;
Some monuments are built and then they represent the place they are built in for eternity. Pyramids of Eygpt, Taj Mahal of Agra, Eiffel Tower of Paris…so is Statue of Liberty of New York city. The statue, a gift to the United States from the people of France, was conceptualized by Édouard René de Laboulaye and designed by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi. The interior structural elements of the statue were designed by Gustave Eiffel (yes he is the same engineer who built the Eiffel Tower).
P.S. This post marks the beginning of photos taken from DSLR camera (Canon Rebel T3, my first DSLR!). Having said this does not mean that I will be dumping my loyal iPhone 4 camera, it still remains my camera of choice. Photos taken by iPhone will appear on this blog, albeit less frequently.
